Local Anesthesia for Labiaplasty

Back to All

In addition to oral narcotics and sedatives that are given before the labiaplasty procedure, we use an injectable lidocaine with epinephrine at the base of the labia for local anesthesia and hemostasis. The injection is done at the base of the labia to minimize distortion of the labia prior to the procedure. We neutralize the lidocaine with sodium bicarbonate to minimize burning with the injection. The numbing effect of lidocaine with epinephrine lasts for 1-2.5h. The oral pain medication and sedative is continued after the labiaplasty procedure for pain control.
